CareSight's hospital customers have been reaching out looking for creative ways to outfit locations that previously were not set up for traditional patient care. We've been working on the temporary conversion of single to double patient care rooms and the repurposing of care areas like PACU and Day Surgery to handle the unanticipated overflow. Some of that work is conventional (modifying workflows in nursecall, middleware, and mobile applications), but sometimes, infrastructure tweaks aren't enough... #nursecall #middleware #RTLS #Vocera
Hospitals worldwide are struggling to intake COVID-19 patients and many are looking for creative ways to outfit locations throughout their facilities that previously were not set up for traditional patient care. CareSight is participating in several initiatives that include the temporary conversion of single to double patient care rooms and the repurposing of care areas like PACU and Day Surgery to handle the unanticipated overflow. Those hospitals with Real-time Location Systems (RTLS) (i.e., Sonitor, Versus, Centrak), that have tags with Duress or Alert buttons on them, and wireless voice products may be able to take advantage of CareSight’s CarePoint workflow tools to rapidly provide a temporary wireless nursecall using their existing infrastructure.
Here's how we are doing it:
1. Outfit these extra patients per room (Bed B patients) with patient or asset tags.
2. Use our CarePoint middleware to intercept those button presses and direct them to members on communication badges or wireless phones. The message flow on the device will be like regular nurse call alerts, and the message will specifically call out the location and tag, for example: "Room 1009 Bed B Patient Tag."
3. Synchronize assignment data from nurse call, so that any room can be outfitted at any time for this functionality. The workflow remains consistent with the standard operations.
All of the above is supported by CareSight analytics with all events reported on.
Let us know if you or anyone within your network could benefit from this solution. Our team has lots of experience and capabilities around patient care workflow, RTLS, and messaging that could be rapidly deployed.
